Open Training with Steve Irish now available for sailors from all regions. The dates are 16-17 Feb at Draycote.

This will be designed to cover all aspects of successful Optimist sailing building all the required skills during the winter period. A mixture of on shore and on water sessions, with detailed debriefs. Please note although each date has a focus, all dates are open to all.

Steve Irish is a world-class professional sailing coach. He has worked for the British Sailing Team, Turkish Sailing Federation and Thailand’s 49er team amongst others. He is a previous 420 World Champion and multiple National Champion in the RS800 class. Since devoting himself to racing coaching full-time in 2003 he has coached teams to world championship success. He coaches Optimist sailors regularly both in the UK and around the world and recently completely updated the Fernhurst book “Optimist Racing”.

Own boat and previous race experience required.

Cost £75 for the weekend.

Campervan parking available onsite (contact club for details) and a range of good value hotels / B&Bs locally (click here for details). Hot food available daily in the club wet bar downstairs. Drinks,  snacks and WiFi available in the dry bar upstairs. Further food and drink options including a huge range of cakes available in the visitor centre café next door. Scenic 5 mile walk / run / ride track around reservoir. Playground onsite for non-sailing siblings.
