Chew Valley SC 25th & 26th February 2017
Coaches – Phil Sparks and James Grant

Days after storm Doris had torn through the country, Chew Valley Sailing Club welcomed the IOCA SW Open Winter training sailors for an eventful weekend!
While Doris had officially moved on, Saturday was quite breezy with winds around 15-20 knots, with some big gusts coming through. This made for some excellent conditions for the sailors to work on their hiking and boat handling in more windy conditions. The group of 4 non zone squad level sailors coped fantastically well with the challenging conditions and I think most of them were buzzing at the end of the day with what they had achieved.
Sunday started with a good solid breeze, with the forecast of winds to build throughout the day and some very strong gusts. Phil and James had the sailors working hard in their groups as the wind got stronger and stronger. The afternoon session was cut slightly short for the non zone level sailors as the wind (especially the gusts) became a bit severe. The zone standard sailors stayed out and finished the session with some crazy high wind reaching with fairly impressive waves for a reservoir!
Thanks to James and Phil for a great training weekend and to Chew Valley SC for hosting.
