Dotan, a Latvian company is marketing a lifting Optimist rudder using a misleading description of the product which suggests that it is permissible under Optimist Class rules. It is also stated on the company’s website that if the rudder is locked down with a fixing bolt then it complies with class rules – which is not true.

In reality, the design contravenes Optimist Class rules in many respects and could not be used for racing.
